ORIGINAL MADRAS TRADING COMPANY
The Original Madras Trading Company (OMTC) is a family run business in its third generation. OMTC was established in New York City in the early 1970s after leaving Madras with suitcases full of handwoven Madras checks and other Indian woven textiles.
OMTC was then established in 38rd Street, part of New Yorks garment district in view of the Empire State Building. The office never changed and still today OMTC trades from this location, supplying many of the most renowned brands in American clothing.
Manufacturing and supplying fabrics and garments from India throughout the whole world from New York, the Original Madras Trading Company started a very own project in designing and producing an exclusive and unique range of handwoven clothing. According to the spirit of the company and Indian history, the OMTC handloom project is loaded with Madras culture and the profound ties to American and Indian societies.
Outstanding skills of handweaving and the traditional richness of color in Indian culture are now interwoven by the Original Madras Trading Company with classic American Sportswear.
