VILEBREQUIN

The summers of Saint-Tropez in the 1970s were the inspiration for the fan of motor racing, Fred Prysquel, to start creating his world famous Swim-Shorts. In 1971 he sketched out the design of his first Swim-Shorts on the tablecloth of the famous Cafe Senequier. Color, design and sheer originality made them an instant success and Vilebrequin was born. 

In homage to his passion for motor sports he named the brand Vilebrequin, the french word for crankshaft.

In search of a durable, long-lasting and fast drying fabric, Prysquel decided to make his swim shorts from spinnaker sailcloth, a light and moisture resistant fabric.

That way, in 1971 the Moorea was born and since then established as the classic style of the Vilebrequin collection, a legendary style, that excites and fascinates its fans and uncounted collectors throughout the world. The practical shorts convinces with its comfortable fit, the elegant appearance and unique colors and designs. From 1971 the sea turtle insignia became a sign of the spirit of Saint-Tropez. Within a few years, Vilebrquin swim shorts became the must-have item for the beach!
